ICCM 2016

The Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University of Jaffna and with the contribution of its Alumni Association have conducted its third ICCM on June 28th & 29th, 2016 at Hotel Green Grass, Jaffna. The theme of the conference was “Critical Solutions for Contemporary Management”. The conference has received the attention of the researchers and professional from the country and the globe to disseminate their findings in the conference.

There are around 300 national and international scholars showed their interest in participating in the conference. Initially the conference committee received over 260 abstracts and after the rigorous blind review 130 papers were selected for the presentation of the conference and published as full paper in the proceedings as well as Journals. ICCM – 2016 acknowledges invaluable contribution of the reviewers who reviewed the abstracts and full papers within the very short timeline.

The Inaugural Plenary Session of ICCM-2016 was indeed a productive and exciting session by the distinguished participation of the University of Jaffna, Senior Professor (Ms.) V.Arasaratnam Vice-Chancellor, University of Jaffna as the Chief-Guest, Prof. G. Mikunthan, Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Jaffna, and Dr. T. Mangaleswaran, Rector, Vavuniya Campus as the Special Guests. Moreover, two key note speakers were invited and delivered on “The Challenge for Sri Lankan Enterpreneurs in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Digital Age” by Prof. Kanes K Rajah, Royal Agricultural University and the other on “Global Business Challenges and Developing Countries” by Prof. S. Nakkiran, Ambo University, Ethiopia. On the second day, in addition to the technical sessions a panel discussion was organized on “Ethical Practices in Contemporary Environment” with Dr.Kingsley Gnanendran, The University of Scranton, USA as the moderator.

·      Dr. A.C. De Alwis  (University of Kelaniya) on “Economic Perspective”

·      Dr. S. Sivakumar, (Ambo University, Ethiopia) ‘Environmental Perspective’.

·      Dr. (Mrs.) R. Senathirajah (University of Colombo) on ‘Management Perspcetive’.

There was a cultural event organized with the dinner in the evening of the day one. The events of the cultural programme performed by the students of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce except the dance performance from the Ramanathan Academy of Fine Arts.

ICCM – 2016 received generous support from the sponsors. People’s Bank, Bank of Ceylon, Sampth Bank, Cargills, and other well wishers.  Before the conclusion we had the valedictory session and Dr. M .Vasan,  K. S. Rangasamy College of Arts and Science, Tamilnadu, India made the valedictory address and Dr. S. Sivakumar, Tamilnadu, India made conference assessment address too. During this time number of representatives from the audience came forward and gave their feedback also.

The effort of the faculty was very success and appreciated by all who participated in the session. All witnessed great team effort in the vast organization of ICCM – 2016 with liberal support from the Vice Chancellor, Dean of the Faculty and Heads of the Department.   All Event-Team members and the student volunteers for made the ICCM – 2016 a memorable event.
