The Faculty of Management Studies & Commerce of the University of Jaffna is pleased to announce the commencement of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) – 2016/2017 and invites applications for the admission from qualified candidates. A candidate seeking admission to an MBA should possess any one or more of the following qualifications and should demonstrate a satisfactory level of English language proficiency:

Semester duration – Each semester extends for 20 weeks
Duration – Two years
Medium of instruction – English
Total course fee would be LKR Three hundred and fifty thousand per student. This can be paid in two installments as given below:

University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka
The Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce of the University of Jaffna and with the contribution of its Alumni Association have conducted its third ICCM on June 28th & 29th, 2016 at Hotel Green Grass, Jaffna. The theme of the conference was “Critical Solutions for Contemporary Management”. The conference has received the attention of the researchers and professional from the country and the globe to disseminate their findings in the conference.
There are around 300 national and international scholars showed their interest in participating in the conference. Initially the conference committee received over 260 abstracts and after the rigorous blind review 130 papers were selected for the presentation of the conference and published as full paper in the proceedings as well as Journals. ICCM – 2016 acknowledges invaluable contribution of the reviewers who reviewed the abstracts and full papers within the very short timeline.
The Inaugural Plenary Session of ICCM-2016 was indeed a productive and exciting session by the distinguished participation of the University of Jaffna, Senior Professor (Ms.) V.Arasaratnam Vice-Chancellor, University of Jaffna as the Chief-Guest, Prof. G. Mikunthan, Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Jaffna, and Dr. T. Mangaleswaran, Rector, Vavuniya Campus as the Special Guests. Moreover, two key note speakers were invited and delivered on “The Challenge for Sri Lankan Enterpreneurs in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Digital Age” by Prof. Kanes K Rajah, Royal Agricultural University and the other on “Global Business Challenges and Developing Countries” by Prof. S. Nakkiran, Ambo University, Ethiopia. On the second day, in addition to the technical sessions a panel discussion was organized on “Ethical Practices in Contemporary Environment” with Dr.Kingsley Gnanendran, The University of Scranton, USA as the moderator.

There was a cultural event organized with the dinner in the evening of the day one. The events of the cultural programme performed by the students of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce except the dance performance from the Ramanathan Academy of Fine Arts.
ICCM – 2016 received generous support from the sponsors. People’s Bank, Bank of Ceylon, Sampth Bank, Cargills, and other well wishers. Before the conclusion we had the valedictory session and Dr. M .Vasan, K. S. Rangasamy College of Arts and Science, Tamilnadu, India made the valedictory address and Dr. S. Sivakumar, Tamilnadu, India made conference assessment address too. During this time number of representatives from the audience came forward and gave their feedback also.
The effort of the faculty was very success and appreciated by all who participated in the session. All witnessed great team effort in the vast organization of ICCM – 2016 with liberal support from the Vice Chancellor, Dean of the Faculty and Heads of the Department. All Event-Team members and the student volunteers for made the ICCM – 2016 a memorable event.
Staff of the Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce were participated at the workshop on business innovation training to the entrepreneurs, which was held on 10th of February 2016. At this workshop selected small medium entrepreneurs participated and shared their expectations from each faculty in Jaffna University. Our staff were conducted a team consultancy with the Peter Sommer (GIZ consultants).
Two-day discussionwas organized by the University Business Linkage (UBL) to plan the creativity week which will be placed in August 2016. Students, staff, and the women micro entrepreneur have participated in this discussion. Peter Sommer (UBL consultant) discussed about the tools to reconnoiter the creativity days from five departments of our faculty and the imports of the students and staff participation in the creativity week.
<p style=”text-align: justify;”>A Workshop on “electronic knowledge for Micro businesses” and “easy way for starting e-business” was organized by the incubation cell,for the micro marketers who registered at the incubation cell of the Faculty of Management studies and commerce,“for two days on 6th and 7th of May 2016, at our faculty’s Computer lab. There were 20 participants in this workshop. Mr. K.Siyanthan , instructer in computer Technology was the resource person. Mr. T.Kirubakaran, Assistant network manager, and Mr. S. Swarman assisted to the lab works. Mr.N.Umakanth , Lecturer, Department of Commerce coordinated this event . food and refreshment were sponsored by Industrial Development Board (IDB).
Students and staff of the faculty were participated in the awareness program on UBL initiation by the University of Jaffna, at the international trade fair, which was held on 29th to 31st January -2015. In this program students and the staff of our faculty made awareness on the UBL initiations and they collected feedback from the stake holders.
Our faculty staff conducted a workshop Through participatory rural approach on Dairy Business Management for Small-Scale Dairy farmers, Milk traders, Transporters and Processors from 27th of June to 29th of June in Mullaithivu district. This workshop was organized by World concern, an International Non-government organization located in Mullaithivu.25 small -scale dairy farmers, milk traders, transporters and processors Participated in the workshop.
Faculty betrothed in the youth development program organized by the collaborative work of European union, UNDP, Sri Lankan government and the University of Jaffna in 2016.under this program, youth in three districts, as Jaffna, Killinochchi, and mullaithivu were targeted to initiate this empowerment activity. Staff were trained the youth entrepreneurs through field visits, and class room listening
